This is a spectacular walk that provides a genuine wilderness experience in a dramatic landscape
Amne Machin is one of the nine great spiritual mountains of Tibet. It is particularly important for the Amdo Tibetans of Eastern Tibet. It is located in southeastern Qinghai province in the Golog Tibet Autonomous Prefecture. Over 90% of the people who live in Golog are Tibetan. Most of the people in Golog are nomadic with many of them living in traditional style Tibetan tents. This is a high altitude prefecture with most of Golog well above 4000m.
A Kora is both a type of pilgrimage and a type of meditative practice in Tibetan tradition. Kora is performed by the practitioner making a circumambulation around a sacred site or object, typically as a constituent part of a pilgrimage, ceremony, celebration or ritual. The year of the Horse is especially auspicious for Amne Machin pilgrims

Revitalization
In 2012 a new highway began construction on the eastern side of Amne Machin.
The very small number of tourists that were coming completely dried up. We have now pioneered a new variation, even more beautiful than before
The new Inner Kora avoids 4 days of walking beside this road while providing a spectacular wilderness experience. We also help bring much needed eco-tourism to this beautiful area
To keep the Inner Kora as a pristine wilderness, we commit to:
⦁ Removal of all human waste
⦁ Removal of all rubbish
⦁ Removal of all food scraps
⦁ Remove invasive species
⦁ Treat all plant life with respect
⦁ Respect all wildlife
⦁ No cairns, all rocks to be left in-situ
We passionately respect the past— but we are alive to todays changing world
